The Prince George Cougars exploded with a goal late in the second period and four more in the third to erase a 3-1 deficit and double the Vancouver Giants 6-3.
Jesse Gabrielle notched a hat trick and was plus four while Chase Witala scored his team high 24th goal for the 23-12-1-1 Cougars who are just a point behind 2nd place Victoria in the BC Division and Western Conference.
Witala added two assists and also was plus four.
The Cougars begin 2016 with home games against Vancouver Saturday at 7 and Sunday at 5.

The defending champion Cariboo Cougars have advanced to the quarter-finals at the Mac’s Major Midget hockey tournament in Calgary following a 5-1 victory over the Ontario Avalanche.
The Cougars, who finished 3-1 in round robin play, face the Southside Athletic Club of Edmonton today (Thursday) with the winner to advance to the semis.
