Cariboo Cougars out; Northern Caps in final at Mac’s

The defending champion Cariboo Cougars lost in the men’s semi-finals 5-2 to the Lloydminster Bobcats at the Mac’s major midget hockey tournament in Calgary.

The Bobcats also won the tournament opener 5-2 over the Cougars and will face the Calgary Flames in the final today (Friday).

Cariboo scored a 5-2 victory over the South Side Athletic Club of Edmonton in the quarter-finals.

The Cougars return to BC Major Midget League action against the Vancouver Northeast Chiefs on Jan. 9 and 10 at Kin 1.

The Prince George based Northern Capitals will play in the women’s final today (Friday) at the Mac’s against the Rocky Mountain Raiders of Okotoks, Alberta.

The Caps won their semi-final 4-0 over the Fraser Valley Rush in the semi-finals to stay unbeaten.

Alyssa Connell of Prince George is 0-5 at the Tim Horton’s BC Junior Women’s Curling Championship in Kamloops.

On Thursday, Connell lost 9-3 to Corryn Brown of Kamloops and 10-4 to Sarah Loken of Delta.
