Road crews with the City of Prince George are doing their best to keep up with the large volume of pot holes that are making any sort of commute a little bumpier.
Manager of Roads and Fleet, Jordan Wiseman told MyPGNow.com getting caught up has proven to be a challenge due to the volume of work requests on the table.
“We have repaired approximately 800 pot holes and there are still service requests coming in. There is still work to be done and the freeze-thaw cycles over the winter do play a role in that.”
“Most of the time we do have two pothole trucks probably three days a week but usually there is at least one out every day. (We are) catching up on some of those service requests and we are starting to make some headway.”
He added a large section of sidewalk over by Connaught Hill is also on the capital projects list this year along with upgrades Winnipeg Street and 15th Avenue.
In terms of paving, several main arteries will be a little smoother to drive on.
“We paved a large section of Foothills and will be paving Westwood (Drive) very shortly. We will also be paving a large chunk of Domano in College Heights as well a number of residential areas.”
The City of Prince George’s capital projects budget is nearly $73 million for 2026.
