Giants sweep the hometown Cougars

For the first time this season the Prince George Cougars lost a doubleheader against the same opponent.

The Vancouver Giants struck for three goals in the second period and two more early in the third to knock off the Cats 5-3 before a near capacity crowd of 5,527 fans at CN Centre.

The Cougars had posted at least one win in each of their first 10 doubles when playing the same team in back to back games.

Vancouver won 4-1 on Saturday.

Alec Baer notched two goals and added an assist for the Giants who were outshot 35-28 on Sunday.

Prince George goals came from Jesse Gabrielle, Brogan O’Brien and Brad Morrison.

P.G. still leads the season series 3-2 over Vancouver, although the road team has won all five.

The 23-14-1-1 Cougars, who sit a point back of the second place Victoria Royals, visit Kamloops Wednesday before hosting Victoria on Friday and Saturday.
