There’s plenty of football fun on tap in Prince George this weekend, as the FIFA World Cup wraps up.
Argentina and Spain are set to face off in the final on Sunday, with kickoff at noon.
Argentina claimed their spot in the final with a 2-1 win over England on Wednesday, scoring two minutes into injury time to claim the win.
Spain earned their way with a 2-0 win over France on Tuesday.
The City will be hosting a Watch Party in the Plaza at Canada Games Plaza on Sunday, giving residents the choice to watch the match together.
The gates for the party will open at 11:30 a.m., with food, entertainment, activities and more throughout the day, and finishing up with the City’s first ever drone show at around 10 p.m.
“Sport unifies nations, and you just can’t help feed off that energy and that excitement,” said City Councillor and Soccer Fan Ron Polillo. “Whether you’re a soccer fan or not, you’re just going to, I think, be caught up by the excitement of a World Cup Final, it’s really a special occasion.”
The City received a $50,000 grant from the province to put the party on.
