"Northern season" in full swing for BC tree planters

The forests of Northern BC are alive with the sound of tree planters plunking little seedlings into the ground.

The Western Silvicultural Contractors Association says one season would see around 240 million seedlings planted over 200,000 hectares of land in the province, toward reforestation.

Executive Director John Betts says minimum wage is guaranteed, but beyond that depends on how hard they work.

He says skill plays a big part, but ground and soil conditions also make or break how many trees get planted.
