After 18 years on Prince George City Council, Garth Frizzell is seeking election as Mayor of Prince George.
Around 40 people were on hand at the Northern Innovation Network for the announcement.
“You deserve leadership that cares and listens, that works for everyone, and that delivers,” Frizzell said. “In our part of the world, we need leadership that brings people together instead of pushing them apart.”
Frizzell’s time on City Council has also included national leadership, serving as President of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities and representing more than 2,000 municipalities across the country.
“Potential alone isn’t enough,” Frizzell said. “We need resources industries. We need medical care. We need services and small business. And we need economic diversification that creates jobs we can count on.”
Public Safety will be another central pillar of Frizzell’s platform.
“Every family deserves to feel secure walking home at night,” he said. “Public safety must be addressed at the root causes, not just the system.”
He describes his leadership style as results-driven.
“I am not one for flashy promises that don’t get delivered. I set a path and quietly get it done.”
Frizzell joins fellow City Councillor Kyle Sampson and Roy Stewart in the race for Mayor.
The municipal elections are set for October 17.
