A Nelson-based group is donating $10,000 to the Dr. Amanda Asay Memorial Award held by the Prince George Community Foundation.
Bennett Family Real Estate made the contribution earlier this week, according to a social media post.
Asay was the longest serving member of the Canadian women’s national baseball team at the time of her passing.
She died in a skiing accident in the Kootenays in 2022.
Asay’s accomplishments include five World Cup medals and a silver at the Pan Am Games.
Her memorial award supports two graduating students within School District’s 57 and 8 (Nelson).
Asay was inducted into the Prince George Sports Hall of Fame in 2024 and the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in June of 2025.
