McCloskey stands tall against Smoke Eaters

The Prince George Spruce Kings kicked off a nine game home stand with a 2-0 win over the Trail Smoke Eaters tonight (Thu).

Jordan Funk would get Prince George on the board in the second period after deflecting a pass across the crease and into the yawning cage past Smoke Eaters goaltender Bailey MacBurnie.

The Spruce Kings carried the 1-0 lead into the third period where Cavin Tilsley doubled the lead on a solid wrap-around try to make it 2-0.

Liam McCloskey made 37 saves for his first BCHL shutout.

Trail forward Ross Armour left the game in the third after a head-on collision with Spruce Kings defender Adam Burnett.

Prince George will be back on home ice tomorrow (Fri) when they host the Victoria Grizzlies at 7pm from the Coliseum.
