Dog park gets new name in honour of long time P.G. resident and volunteer

Duchess Park Dog Park has officially been renamed to the Travers Memorial Dog Park as new signage was put up.

The City of Prince George said the name change is in honour of Kathi Travers, who was a long time P.G. resident, dedicated volunteer, and passionate supporter of the SPCA, recognizing her lasting contributions to the community and her commitment to animal welfare.

Honouring individuals and organizations for their outstanding achievements, dedicated service, and significant contributions helps preserve the city’s history while reflecting and celebrating the values that strengthen the community.

The city added Duchess Park was named after respected local educator Duchess Mary Park, and the new dog park’s name, honours Travers’ legacy while maintaining the Duchess Park name for the broader park complex.
