Crime Stoppers honour PG Police

Crime Stoppers honoured a few city police officers today for their contributions in 2015.

Crime Stoppers Vice President Ron Palillo says it was hard to decide on the winners, but believes the right people were recognized.

“We had a few options for sure but this watch and this officer really, I think, stood above everyone else,” he says.

This year’s honourees include Corporal Kyle Trask, who was named “Officer of the Year.” He acted on a crime tip which lead to the arrest of a man wanted in a 2012 sexual assault case.

He says this award goes to his entire team.

“We don’t work alone so, as much as this award that was given to me, it’s a team effort,” he says, “I supervise a small team downtown and we do all the downtown stuff. They helped me win this,” Trask says.

Sgt. Marc Pelletier represented the city’s “‘B’ watch”, which was named the “General Duty Watch of the year.”

This is the 3rd straight year the watch has won, and Pelletier says it feels good to be recognized.

“We’re out there working hard, we’re working for the citizens of Prince George, we want to have a nice safe city, and Crime stoppers is a great partnership with that so we really appreciate all the help we get from them,” Pelletier says.

Crime stoppers also thanks the public for its help, who helped with a slight increase in tips from 2014.
