Trying year comes to an end for UNBC men’s basketball

In a year that saw its fair share of heartbreak and injuries, the UNBC Timberwolves men’s basketball team will head into the off-season ready to reload.

Head Coach, Todd Jordan says he wouldn’t mind finding some more size.

“I always want to get bigger, but those guys are hard to find.”

“It is a target for me when we recruit, it’s something you want”

Due to some season-ending injuries after the holiday season to Billy Cheng and Elliott Rowe, the Timberwolves were forced to roll with a much younger squad putting first-year players Sage Gosal, Anthony Hokanson and Hadyn Molcak into larger roles much sooner than anticipated.

Jordan says the younger group played very well when called upon but understands more work is still ahead. jordan

“You have to look at the young guys and understand they have a lot of growth, we will have a discussion on the time they need to spend in the gym during the off-season because that is when players are made.”

Second-year power forward Vagggelis Loukas is also part of the young nucleus and all five could stand to benefit from the increased playing time next season.

The top priority for UNBC is to find some big post players to help round out its current roster who only lose Cheng and Colin Plumb to graduation.

The Timberwolves finished 4-16 on the season after wrapping up in Edmonton last weekend against the Grant MacEwan Griffins.
