Prince George family taking part in Ride to Conquer Cancer

Although the Ride to Conquer Cancer doesn’t take place until August, a Prince George man is busy training.

Chris Perry, his wife Cheryl and son Stephen will be participating in the event starting on August 27th.

“Cancer is a very difficult thing to go through, and after seeing all the stories of people I decided to join and do something about it.” Chris said.

He says his wife has been riding for several years “I told her I had to join, I couldn’t stand by the sidelines any more so I decided to take the plunge and begin.”

Chris’s father died of lung cancer 10 years ago at the age of 72.

The trio is riding on Team Wheelin’ Warriors of the North which hopes to raise $130,000 during the ride.

The two-day 250 kilometer event goes from Vancouver to Seattle. It’s B.C.’s largest cycling fundraiser with over 70 million raised for the province’s Cancer Foundation since 2009.

One in three British Columbians will develop cancer in their lifetime.
