Major accidents near Vanderhoof and Williams Lake

Vanderhoof RCMP were called to a serious head on collision just after 8:30pm Thursday night .

A Suburban and a pick-up truck collided on Highway 16 near Noonla Road leaving both drivers with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Human error is believed to be the cause of the accident as one of the vehicles crossed over the center line.
Speed and alcohol are not being considered as factors.

RCMP officers are still at the scene of an accident just outside of Williams Lake. Two vehicles burst into flames after a passenger vehicle collided with a transport truck 5 km north of McLeese Lake on Highway 97.

Williams Lake RCMP received a report of the serious traffic incident Thursday night at 9:56pm.

Due to the severity of damage to the passenger vehicle, police were not able to determine the number of occupants of the vehicle.

The cause of the collision is unknown at this time.

The highway is currently open to single lane alternating traffic.

UPDATE 4pm: Preliminary investigation now shows that investigators have been able to determine that two persons from the passenger vehicle are deceased.
