The Northern Capitals female midget AAA hockey team finished up their regular season with a pair of home victories over the Vancouver Island Seals this weekend.
On Sunday, the Caps blanked VI 2-0 thanks to a pair of goals from Sage Desjardins and Hunter Mosher.
Kelsey Roberts picked up the shutout between the pipes.
Roberts says the team also had to deal with it’s first game action in nearly a month.
“We’re used to playing every weekend and we have been off for 3 or 4 weekends in a row, so we had a lot of good practices but no real game action.”
Caps Forward, Sage Desjardins says the Seals presented a tough challenge.
“It’s definitely a rough game out there. People don’t think there is hitting in women’s hockey but that’s not true and we had to overcome it.”
The Caps recorded a 4-1 win on Friday.
Victoria Johnston, Sage Desjardins, Marissa Nichol and Caily Mellott scored for the home-side while Taylor Sims replied for the Seals.
VI blanked the Caps on Saturday 3-0 thanks to goals from Brittany Savard, Aimee Brucker and Marissa Ryalls.
Playoffs begins March 4th to 6th for the Capitals thanks to a first round bye.
Their best of three playoff series games are tentatively scheduled at the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena.
