Stats Canada’s average weekly earnings survey shows residents in BC making $921 a week.
Economist, Emmanuelle Bourbeau says the 2.9% increase in the past year was led by several sectors. “Manufacturing saw an increase of 7.1% followed by Health Care and Social Assistance at 4.9%. Wholesale Trade went up 4.7% while Retail Trade saw an increase of 4.5%.”
It was the third largest increase in Canada only behind Ontario and Prince Edward Island.
The national average for weekly earnings is just under $960.
Earnings in Alberta fell 1% to $1,147 over the past year.
