Stats Canada unveiled the latest job numbers for Prince George on Friday.
Labour Division Analyst, Vince Ferrao says the February numbers didn’t really budge from the previous month. “We had 46,800 people working this February compared with 47,500 people a year ago.”
The unemployment rates also climbed according to Ferrao. “It was 5.8% last month compared to the 4.4% during the same time in 2015.
The provincial jobless rate is below the national average at 6.6% compared to 7.3%.
Employment grew 68,800 or 3.0% over the past 12 months which is the fastest rate of growth among all the provinces.
