Lally wins by split decision

Inner City fighter Kenny Lally of Prince George won his first bout at the 2016 (IABA) American Boxing Olympic Qualification Tournament in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The 26-year-old Lally beat Hector Luis Garcia of the Dominican Republic by split decision to advance to the Bantamweight 56 Kilos quarter-finals on Tuesday against an opponent from Venezuela (Jose Vicente Diaz).

Lally, who is one of 13 athletes representing Boxing Canada, needs two more victories in order to qualify for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

A total of 241 boxers from 34 countries were entered in the Olympic qualifying tournament.
