Co-op programs at UNBC receive facelift

UNBC students wanting to enrol into a Co-op program will benefit from some extra funding.

$75,000 has been made available thanks to an announcement from the B.C. government supporting 16 post-secondary school in the province to the tune of $1.3 million dollars.

The students gain a better knowledge of their academic workload when they enter the Co-op program according to Interim Vice-President of Academics, Dan Ryan.

“Generally, when students do engage in the program they tend to find out as to why they are taking the kind of courses in their program and why they’re important so students tend to work a little harder because it’s understood the skills and knowledge they are getting will be more applicable.”

B.C. Co-op week runs until Friday.

Work placements also provide employers with an opportunity to assess new talent for future recruitment.
