PG man charged in fatal rollover

A 22-year-old Prince George man is facing criminal charges after last weekend’s fatal rollover on Highway 97.

A pick-up truck travelling southbound between Handlen and Austin Road lost control and rolled into the northbound ditch at 12:45 am last Saturday morning according to the Prince George RCMP.

Four passengers who were not wearing seatbelts ended up being ejected from the vehicle.

A 21-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene while a 20-year-old woman was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Two other female passengers who were both 19 suffered minor injuries.

Alcohol and excessive speed were factors in the collision.

Highway 97 was closed for several hours after the crash and the investigation remains on-going.
