Suspect detained during weekend gas station robbery

One person is in custody following a gas station robbery on Saturday night.

It happened just after 5:15 when the Prince George RCMP received a report of a robbery in progress at the 1800 block of 20th avenue.

Officers arrested the 53-year old suspect from PG.

Corporal, Craig Douglass says it was nice to finally get a call during the act in progress.

“We were notified of the person still being in the business and caught him pretty much within seconds as he was leaving.”

As for any tips for late night business employees, Douglass adds a couple of things can be done to tighten things up.

“Put away any excess cigarettes and lottery tickets put them away in a locked room somewhere and only give the robbers the minimum so they don’t spend long in the area.”

Investigators believe the culprit is not responsible for the recent rash of gas station robberies in the city.

The accused will appear in court on Monday.
