Caps cherishing championship run

The Northern Capitals are still on cloud nine after capturing back to back BC Female Midget AAA Hockey Championships.

After winning the Mac’s Midget AAA Female Tournament in Calgary over the Christmas holidays, the Caps took it one step further by upsetting the top-ranked Greater Vancouver Comets in two straight to claim its second consecutive provincial title last weekend.

Head Coach, Mario Desjardins says this year’s accomplishment is even sweeter than the last one. “Last year was a pretty special championship being the first one in the north, and this one is that much more special due to all the hard work we have put in over the past three years.”

The Caps now move on to their next step which is hosting the Pacific Regionals in Prince George against the Alberta Champion from April 1-3 with the opportunity to represent the region at the Esso Cup April 17-23 in Weyburn, Saskatchewan.

Desjardins is hoping for a packed house regardless of where the games are held. “To host regionals here in Prince George and to have the home crowd behind you I just hope to have a huge crowd show and be the seventh player.”
