The UNBC Timberwolves men’s soccer team has recruited Jonah Smith, a centre midfielder from Reynolds Secondary in Victoria, for the 2016-17 Canada West season.
Smith, will enter the Biomedical Studies program at UNBC, was part of the Under-21 Vancouver Island Soccer League championship team in the 2014-15 season.
Smith understands he needs to be adaptable to make an impact on the field.
“I have to help the team in whatever way is needed on the day,” he said in a team release. “If that means scoring a goal or making a key tackle, I need to be able to do it.”
Timberwolves head coach Steve Simonson, who has coached Smith for years at the youth level, is thrilled about bringing Smith to Prince George.
“Jonah fits the overall philosophy of the program greatly,” he said. “He is incredibly rounded as a student athlete and is a high achiever.”
