A provincial investigation has been launched by the B.C. government after two girls aged 12 and 16 were left at a Valemount bus stop for several hours.
Transportation Minister, Tood Stone says it’s completely and totally unacceptable.
Chelsie and Jessie Kazakoff, were allowed to travel from Prince George to Valemount after visiting their mother, but the connecting bus was full and their tickets had expired.
Both were on their way back to Red Deer since they live with their father.
A Greyhound spokesperson says employees at the 24-hour facility in Valemount were aware of the situation and would have kept an eye on the girls until the next connecting bus arrived two hours later which was destined for Alberta.
Instead, one of the sisters called their mother Vanessa Aubichon so they could be picked up and taken home.
Greyhound has launched an investigation of their own into the incident.
Aubichon argued if the tickets were close to expiring they should not have been allowed to board the Prince George to Valemount bus.
