Prince George’s Hudson Bay Wetlands project is making strides.
Work on a hiking area on the west side of the Queensway and overlook has begun on the Heritage Trail according to the Prince George Naturalist Club.
Project Chair, Clive Keen states two more enhancements are also scheduled for the second half of 2016. “The one is putting a bridge from the north side to the south side of the pond area. The other thing is installing a ramp in order for a universal access trail around the channel area.”
$75,000 was granted to them last year but another $25,000 is needed to complete the ramp.
However, Keen believes the site will rival outdoor attractions like Cottonwood Island Park once complete.
“It’s a wonderful natural feature right in the heart of Prince George anybody can use it. You can either walk or cycle around it and is everything you would want in an inner-city wetland.”
