ICBC’s partnership of road improvement projects has led to a 24% drop in severe crashes in BC.
Spokesperson, Carolyn Robinson explains how they determine where to go.
“We look at places where there is a crash history and we also look at places where there might be a possible problem along with some preventative measures.”
A 15% reduction was also reported in property damage claims.
In 2015, ICBC invested just under $8,000,000 into 400 projects and studies with 113 of those focusing on pedestrian and cyclist safety improvements.
The program received the 2015 Decade of Action Road Safety Award from the Transportation Association of Canada.
