The District of Vanderhoof has allocated $35,000 to protect Riverside Park, through a bank stabilization project.
They would like the vast majority of the design work done by October and Mayor Gerry Thiessen says the size of the bank has increased by a large margin.
“When you look at maps from 20 years ago when the park first came into existence you can see where the bank was then and where it is now, it is a substantial concern.”
Once the design work is complete, they hope to begin construction on the project next year.
Thiessen adds the total cost of the project would be $500,000 but says that is a rough estimate.
