Family members head to PG after Fort McMurray fire

A Prince George woman says her husband, son and daughter-in-law arrived in the city from Fort McMurray.

Kimberley says it will take some time for everyone to get over the emotional scars. “I just try to be as much of a comfort when they want to talk but until then there is going to be some debriefing for all these folks, this is not your normal day at the office so to speak.”

Both her son and husband do have employment concerns after a similar fire occurred at their workplace a few years ago.

“My husband and son used to work at the plywood plant and we know what happened there. Fire also is a bit of a stickler for our family because they already lost their work once due to the fire and it’s threatening them again.”

She adds their neighbourhood in Fort McMurray is ok for now with no damage being done to their homes.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says Ottawa will match every donation made to the Red Cross.
