18 people were injured in 110 crashes in North Central BC during the Victoria Day long-weekend last year according to ICBC.
High-risk driving behaviours such as speeding are contributing to the problem and Spokesperson Sam Corea has a simple solution for everyone.
“It’s time to slow down and be realistic about the travel and the times you require to reach your destination and reduce your risk of crashing. Give yourself lots of extra time to get to your destination so you don’t feel the need to rush and make mistakes.”
Throughout the month police are stepping up enforcement on issues such as speeding.
2 people are killed with 490 injuries in 1900 crashes province-wide.
