Prince George RCMP investigating gunfight in Freeman Street home

The Prince George RCMP have provided an update on what they say was a gunfight which took place in a Prince George home on Friday.

At 5:40pm, June 10th, police responded to a report of multiple shots fired on the 700 block of Freeman Street.

When police arrived and identified the home, three people exited without incident and were detained. No one was injured, however a stray bullet broke a neighbours window narrowly missing the occupants; two adults and two children.

A search warrant on the home led officers to believe that the incident was a targeted shooting where multiple people descended upon the home with firearms, resulting a exchange of gunfire between them and the occupants.

One occupant, a 25 year old Prince George man who is known to police is facing multiple charges. Investigators found drugs, cash and trafficking gear in the home.

“This is a violent and dangerous act that occurred as a result of a conflict in the drug trade.” Cpl. Craig Douglass said in a release.”This is a clear example that those involved in the drug trade have no regard for others.”

Police are in the early stages of this investigation and are looking for information from the public that could assist investigators. If you have any information, contact the Prince George RCMP at (250)561-3300 or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1(800)222-8477, online at www.pgcrimestoppers.bc.ca
