About 13,500 unit sales were recorded in BC last month according to the provincial Real Estate Association.
Chief Economist, Cameron Muir says Northern BC enjoyed some modest success as well.
“Overall home sales in May were up about 5% compared to a year ago and having the north grow in terms of overall unit sales as well as seeing prices really stable is good news.”
Housing starts in Prince George are expected to see a 25% increase this year thanks to a spike in the number of multiple units being constructed.
436 residential unit were sold in Northern BC in May with the average home price settling at $271,000.
The average price of a home in BC is $722,000 which is greatly inflated due to the Vancouver housing market.
