April EI numbers decline for both Prince George and BC

BC saw a decrease in the number of people receiving EI benefits during the month of April.

BC was one of many provinces to experience a decline according to Stats Canada Analyst, Melissa Moyser.

“50,540 people receive regular EI benefits in April which is down 2.2% from March. BC was not the only province that saw a drop in beneficiaries as Saskatchewan, Ontario, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland and Labrador went down as well.”

In Prince George, 1740 people received EI benefits last month which is a decrease of 80 people.

The national figures show 538,400 people were on Employment Insurance in April which is a decrease of 4,900 residents from the previous month.
