Gas prices in Prince George see steady decline

Gas prices in Prince George have fallen as low as 105.9 cents a litre.

Senior Petroleum Analyst with Gasbuddy.com, Dan McTeague says Britain’s split from the European Union may cause a global impact.

“The world demand will likely be impacted that is just a worldwide slowdown we have seen over the past year may be accelerated with this uncertainty so this sets the stage for lower oil prices.”

McTeague adds the Suncor shortage was not responsible for last month’s hike which saw prices skyrocket to $1.19 a litre.

“The rise had much to do with the Chicago and Midwest market which was looking at a bit of trouble back at the end of May and into the first week of June, that’s really what prompted the spike.”

Prices are expected to drop four or five cents further in the next few days and should stay there through the Canada Day long weekend.
