The Prince George RCMP Traffic Section is focusing its daily efforts on contributing crash factors in the city’s most dangerous spots.
To reduce collision numbers, there will be a stronger RCMP presence looking for impaired and distracted drivers, speeders, those not wearing a seatbelt, and any intersection-related violators at or near the following sites:
- Domano Boulevard / Tyner Boulevard and Highway 16;
- Highway 97 / Central Street at 15th Avenue;
- Ferry Avenue and Highway 16;
- Highway 16 and Highway 97;
- 15th Avenue / Patricia Boulevard and Victoria Street;
- 20th Avenue / Victoria Street;
- Konrath Road / Westgate Road / Highway 16;
- 15th Avenue / Ospika Boulevard;
- 20th Avenue / 17th Avenue / Carney Street / Massey Drive;
- Cowart Road / Vance Road / Highway 16.
Sergeant Matt LaBelle is also asking you to help the RCMP keep our streets safe.
“We’re asking if they see a dangerous or impaired driver to pull over and call 911. If they see a traffic violation that they want to report, we ask they that call our administrative line (250-561-3300),” he says.
According to ICBC’s 2013 numbers, 21% of the city’s collisions happened at these ten spots, which also made up 21% of Prince George’s casualty collisions.
