CN Rail investing $180 million into BC safety

CN Rail is investing $180 million to improve safety efforts across the Province, much of it headed to the North.

Locally, Regional Community Affairs Lead Emile Scheffel says the money is going towards things like our emergency workers and protecting our aquifers.

“Our focus is on providing first responders, especially fire departments in communities like Prince George with the tools they need to be ready to respond to rail emergencies,” he says.

He and the city are working together to keep the city safe.

“We have a really strong and close working relationship with the city through the working group that we’ve set up between CN and the city. We’ll be working with them to answer those questions address those concerns as we move forward.”

Across the Province, CN is also putting money towards things like derailment detection tools on its tracks.
