It’s finally (almost) here!
There will be lots of local food, live entertainment and activities for the kids at this year’s Downtown Summerfest. The event runs from 11:00 am until 5:00 pm on Sunday, July 17 at 6th and George Street, just down from City Hall.
The CanFor Kidz Zone will feature Black Spruce Farms and their mobile petting zoo, Huble Homestead Historic Site, the Exploration Place and the Central BC Railway and Forestry Museum. The Prince George Air Cadet Squadron 396 Gliders will also be on site, along with Comedy Magician Clinton W. Gray.
There will be two stages showcasing live entertainment. Things get underway on the Main Stage at 6th Ave. and George St. at 11:15. The TD Community Stage will start hosting performances at noon and feature a community piano on stage throughout the day. You can check out the full schedule here.
And then, of course, there’s the food! Nearly two dozen restaurants are taking part in this year’s Taste Pavilion, including Shiraz, SPICY Greens, White Goose Bistro, Shogun Japanese Sushi and Steakhouse, Bites of Bliss, Frozen Paddle and many more. They’ll be serving up bite-sized versions of their signature specialities.
Food must be purchased with Taste Tickets – Pavilion participants will not be accepting cash. Price is $1 per ticket and food items will range from 2-5 tickets each. Downtown Prince George recommends adults purchase $25 worth of Taste Tickets. With a little planning ahead, you can skip the ticket line ups and buy your Taste Tickets at the upstairs counter at Northern Hardware
You’ll also have a chance to win a trip for two to Victoria with Pacific Coastal Airlines. Just be sure to visit their booth at the event and fill out your entry form for a chance to win two round-trip flights to Victoria and a stay at the Accent Inn Victoria.
