Cougars put a bow on 5th annual Charity Golf Tournament

It was a good time had by all at the 5th Annual Prince George Cougars Charity Golf Tournament.

Tournament Chair, Gary Samis says he couldn’t be more pleased with the community support.

“It amazes me how people can come through and donate the dollars they have to such a great cause like our hospital here, so I am just ecstatic about it.”

Samis says the hockey club has shifted its focus in the past couple years in order to better assist Spirit of the North.

“The last two years we have been looking at cardiac health and that affects everybody. This year what we are focusing on additional cardiac heart monitors and I think there is a number of them we will be able to buy so we are very pleased with that.”

Cougars Part-Owner, Dan Hamhuis says it’s nice to be part of such a first-class event.

“I am excited to be back, the tournament continues to grow the guys do such a good job of organizing it and making it a great event.”

Another Cougars minority owner, Eric Brewer, was also in attendance at the P.G. Golf and Curling Club.

“Wonderful weekend. Obviously the Spirit of the North Foundation is a wonderful charity for the City of Prince George and the Prince George Cougars,” said Brewer.

Final fundraising totals have not been determined. A cheque will be presented to the Spirit of the North Foundation just prior to the Cougars home opener September 30th against the Kelowna Rockets.
