Local lacrosse star heading overseas

A Prince George Senior Lacrosse star is heading to Budapest, Hungary for the European (Field) Lacrosse Championships from July 28th to August 6th.

Cole Paciejewski is the league’s leading scorer with the BX Pub/Claude’s Barbershop Bandits with 103 points.

He explains how the opportunity all came about. “It just so happened one player dropped out due to injury and they needed a left-handed player so my name was drawn and they called me up. It all worked pretty well.”

Paciejewski will also have the chance to team-up with ex-college rival Ryan Sage of Kelowna.

“He was a great player and my coach in college actually coached him in his first two years, so it was pretty cool we played for the same coach and will be a good experience to play with him.”

Paciejewski attended Pfeiffer University in North Carolina.

He adds his long road in order to play field lacrosse served him well.

“Growing up there was not a lot of field lacrosse in Prince George so I had to get the experience anyway I could and that meant a lot of trips to Vancouver and even getting a scholarship to play field lacrosse is huge for me and I believe I am the first person from Prince George to play field lacrosse internationally so it means a lot to me.”

Paciejewski leaves for Manchester, England on Friday for training camp.
