Community comes out for Dome Discovery Day

The Prince George Dome Society had a great turn out today at the Dome Discovery Day at the Roll-a-Dome.

Allan Work is a part owner at the facility. The Dome is jointly owned and some of its owners are keen to make a sale. Work says a hotel chain has made an offer, with the intent of turning the Roll-A-Dome into a parking lot. He’s been working with the Dome Society to keep the Dome open and in community hands.

“They’re hoping that they will be able to get their hands on it. I’d like to see that happen too because I think it’s important to the community. Most everybody you talk to they used to have their birthdays here or their kids did. They use it and they’d like to see it stay.”

Today’s event was a massive garage and book sale featuring more than 2000 donated books. Work says the first hours were the busiest as keen garage salers turned up to take a look.

Proceeds will go to help cover the non-profit society’s cost.
