Prince George’s Relay for Life raised over $557,000 in 2016.
That puts them 1st overall in Canada for the third straight year.
The 24-hour format gives them a major advantage over the rest of the country according to Events Coordinator, Aimee Cassie.
“Being the only 24-hour relay in Canada is huge for Prince George, we really are the anomaly as the city takes a huge amount of pride in the event and we have been doing this format for so long that we have developed this incredible following.”
This year’s Realy attracted 119 teams and 1,208 participants.
It smashed last year’s total of $530,000
Next year’s Relay for Life will mark the event’s 25th Anniversary in Prince George.
The number 2 Relay spot this year is held by Terrebonne-Mascouche, Quebec, which raised $519,000.
