Sidearm Nation side-swiped by Invaders

The Roswell Invaders rebounded in a big way on Monday by defeating Canadian Sidearm nation at the 2016 Ramada World Baseball Challenge by winning 10-2.

Both teams would trade runs in the opening inning before the Invaders recorded three straights runs in the 3rd and 4th innings to take a 4-1 lead which was highlighted by a two-run home run by Bobby Webb.

JP Wilner would record his third home run of the tournament pulling Sidearm within 2 after 5 complete innings.

The Invaders showed off their offensive prowess once again in the 6th and 7th by recording six more runs which included a solo shot from Kaohu Gasper followed by RBI hits from Gaspar, Gavin Lavalee and Cody Bishop.

Gaspar spoke to MYPGNOW after the game and is enjoying his first experience up north. “I love being here as it’s my first time outside of the USA, it’s nice to finally come to Canada and meet some great people and the competition has been good too.”

Mike Scimanico picked up the win on the mound for the Invaders going six innings and only allowing 1 run on 4 hits with 3 strikeouts.

Sidearm Nation pitcher Justin Johnston went 5 1/3 innings in defeat by allowing 6 runs on 10 hits.
