Senators sent to another galaxy by Invaders

The Roswell Invaders are clicking on all cylinders after a convincing 11-1 victory over the Thurston County Senators at the 2016 Ramada World Baseball Challenge in Prince George.

Four more baseballs left Citizen Field courtesy of the team from New Mexico with two of those coming off the bat of left fielder Bobby Webb who finished the game with 4 RBI’s.

Webb believes his vision at the plate was spot on. “It felt really good and I was really balanced at the plate today with good rhythm along with pitches to hit giving me the chance to swing at them.”

The local crowd also saw a rare corkscrew pitcher on the mound in TJ Pruneda who did his best Fernando Valenzuela impression by going 8 strong innings allowing 1 run on just five hits.

prunedaPruneda says the awkward style has only been in his game for a few years.

“I had a high leg kick and would look down in my earlier days and one of my coaches thought I closed my eyes so ever time I go up to pitch I look to the sky and have fun with it.”

Pruneda first learned the stance while attending Clark College.

Roswell improves to the 3-1 in the tournament while Thurston County drops to 1-2.

Invaders play the 0-4 Kamloops Sun Devils tonight at 8 while the Senators take to the diamond at 4 today against Japan.

Roswell currently leads all teams participating in the WBC with 12 home-runs.
