How to watch the Tragically Hip’s final show in Prince George

It’s the end of the Tragically Hip’s final tour as lead singer Gord Downie battles brain cancer.

The final Kingston show will be broadcast live on the CBC starting at 5:30.

Prince George resident and Kingston Native Matt Hutcheon says he’s always felt a special hometown bond with the Hip, but has been reminded of the nation’s love for them on this final tour.

“You have these instances like now, where you are reminded that they are probably just as important to so many other people across the country as they are to you, and it’s beyond more than just a hometown connection. But the band is really your band no matter where you live in Canada.”

Hutcheon and others are organizing a public viewing of the CBC broadcast in the Ramada Hotel Ballroom.

“Doors open at 4:30pm, concert broadcast starts at 5:30. You do have to have a ticket to get in, so we’ve set up an eventbrite page to handle the tickets – tickets are free in accordance to the wishes of the band.”

The broadcast will be preceded by a tailgate party in Canada Games Plaza from 11 – 2pm. Anyone is welcome, no tickets are needed for the pre-party.

The Copper Pig, Westwood Pub and Black Clover are all also hosting viewing parties.
