Invaders pounce on late Senator errors

It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish.

That could not have been more true for the Roswell Invaders on Friday coming back from a 3-0 deficit to soar past the Thurston County Senators 9-3 at the 2016 Ramada World Baseball Challenge.

Thurston County held a 3-0 lead after five innings with catcher Omar Maldonado responsible for two of them.

Roswell’s offense woke up in the 6th inning scoring 4 runs with three of those coming from bases loaded walks followed by an RBI single from Kaohu Gasper.

The Invaders broke the game open in the 8th when Bobby Webb scorched a moon shot contributing three of their four runs in the inning.

Roswell Right Fielder, Gavin Lavallee believes the team got stronger as the game went on. “We got off to a slow start, our offence makes adjustments pretty well so once we got clicking it looked pretty good.”

“Once we get a couple of at bats you have seen the pitcher a few times it’s a lot easier to hit, the guy they brought in we saw three days ago so it was good to get those looks for sure.”

Lavallee is batting .375 during the WBC with 6 hits including 2 doubles.

Kyle Perez picked up the win on the mound for the Invaders going 5 innings allowing 3 runs on 5 hits.

Ryan Smith took the loss for Thurston going 5 1/3 innings giving up 4 runs on 6 hits.

The Senators play Sidearm Nation in the Bronze Medal Game at 2PM from Citizen Field while the Invaders take on Japan at 6PM for the Gold Medal.
