Parking lot and highway improvements will close Ancient Forest park for much of September

If you’re planning a visit to the Ancient Forest this month, you’ll need to pick your time frame carefully. The park and nearby sections of Highway 16 will be closed for construction for nearly half of September.

Crews will be working to improve the parking lot and turn off from Highway 16 to the park.

Parts of Highway 16 will be reduced to single-lane alternating traffic during construction. Delays are expected to be less than 20 minutes.

The park will be open on weekends.

Park closures and traffic delays will take place on the following days:

  • Tuesday, September 6 to Friday, September 9
  • Monday, September 12 to Friday, September 23
  • Monday, September 19 to Friday, September 1.

This schedule may change so be sure to check the BC Parks website before heading out, just in case.
