Distracted drivers will be $543 lighter in the wallet if they caught during a campaign to tackle the issue.
It’s being hosted by the Prince George RCMP, ICBC and Citizens on Patrol.
The issue surrounding distracted driving is still a head scratcher for RCMP Corporal Craig Douglass.
“It’s still astonishing to me how many people are still using the phones and it annoys other drivers which sees some yelling back and forth at intersections which is good because most of the population is getting the idea but there’s still some out there who don’t care.”
Highly visible and well placed “Not While Driving” signs will be placed throughout the city to remind people using a handheld device is prohibited in BC.
Over 800 crashes in the province occur everyday with many due to distracted driving.
