Environment Canada is reporting that it was a wet summer in Prince George.
Rain totals were higher than usual, according to Matt MacDonald at the weather office. “If you’re thinking it rained a lot it’s not your imagination this summer Prince George recorded 222 millimetres of rain and that’s compared to a normal of 177 so a full 25% wetter than normal.”
MacDonald adds a lot of unstable weather patterns were mostly to blame for the lack of hot weather in Prince George.
“June was kind of a write-off in terms of summer weather and then it took well into mid-July to see the arrival of summer despite a week at a time nice dry weather we never really locked into that ridge of high pressure we love all summer long.”
A blanket of fog has also welcomed city drivers the past few days.
A fog advisory has been in place for the past two days and has been very hard to shake according to MacDonald.
“We get into fall and we see these clear nights the ground cools and there is lots of humidity called the boundary layer and we see this fog develop overnight and it’s rather stubborn hence the advisory.”
A warmer than normal fall is expected in Prince George with temperatures 1 to 2 degrees higher than usual.
