Former Ministry of Children manager in court on child porn charges

A former regional executive director with the Ministry of Children and Family Development has a preliminary inquiry scheduled today at the Prince George Courthouse – facing child porn charges.

Edward Berry was arrested in December 2014 for offences which allegedly took place in April of that year in Prince George. The 52 year old man is facing one count of possession and one count of accessing child porn.

At the time of his arrest he was in charge of child welfare in the Prince George area, however he is no longer employed with the Ministry.

Berry was released shortly after his arrest on a promise to appear and several conditions, including no contact with anyone under the age of 16 and a ban on internet access.

His trial has faced several delays, with the crown prosecutor calling the case “complicated and slow moving”.
