Northern BC posts small decline in latest home sale figures

The Prince George-Cariboo region continues to buck the trend when it comes to home sales.

BC Real Estate Association Chief Economist, Cameron Muir says the region is still outpacing the rest of Northern BC.

“The Cariboo has done very well, those market sales are up and prices are quite buoyant where the northeast of the province is lagging in sales where we see price declines in some of those markets.”

7600 residential units were sold province-wide in BC last month which is a decline of 11% from the same time last year.

The average home price in Northern BC is $262,000 which is lower than Prince George’s average of just over $300,000 and the provincial mark of $585,000.

Unit sales in Northern BC also dipped 3.6% in September compared to the same time last year which is only a decline of 14 homes.
