The Prince George RCMP Victim Services and Community Policing Sections are hosting an innovative conference starting on Wednesday.
The event is called “Healing Through Learning: Trauma-Informed Practice in Northern BC” with the aim of giving all clients a better understanding of the complexities of trauma.
Victim Services Coordinator, Krista Levar says two former professional athletes will be sharing their stories on Thursday.
“Ex-NHL star Theo Fleury is a survivor of violence and will be sharing his story and former BC Lion JR Larose will also be speaking plus we also have Jesse Miller talking about social media.”
Levar believes the 3-day event will be an educational tool for everyone.
“The opportunity to engage people in this kind of setting and reach out to our community and make sure people connect and learn from each other because people’s actions come from their history.”
The conference is being held at the Prince George Civic Centre.
